About The Noise Doctor

We are an experienced team of professionals operating in the field of noise suppression and sound absorption, in both the Domestic and Commercial markets. The team is led by David Chipp who has over 40 years’ experience in the Construction Industry. He has specialized in noise problems since 1998, and states, that without the total understanding of construction it would be impossible to design bespoke systems which reduce and absorb noise.

During this period we have solved noise problems all over the UK. Our clients have been both large and small. These have been Local Authorities. Leisure Chains, Leading National Solicitors and Airlines to noise problems in the home, from that of noisy neighbours to internal noise problems.

Please take alook arond our site or if you already know what services you require get in touch so we can work with you ad help you with your noise & sound problems.

Services

Noise problems are everywhere, in cities and in the countryside; but normally in your home or your workplace. Noise can affect your health and your business, and very often it is easily solved. This is only easy if you are able to understand how a building is constructed and how noise moves through buildings and structures. This can often be made worse by the effects of resonance. We therefore survey a property in terms of structure and relate it to the Sound Reduction Index to identify the weakest points. From this we can work out a plan of mitigation.

On Line assessment

After providing some photos and sizes of rooms an assessment of design required and rough price of cost to install.

Detailed Property Survey & Basic Report

1.       Detailed measurement and assessment of building and noise problem.

2.       A report in detail of the causes and design to mitigate.

Detailed Specification of Proposed Works

Estimated Cost to Install

1.       A cost to install by acoustic specialists.

2.       An anticipated cost to install by local builder.

Detailed Installation Instructions.

1.       An explanation of best acoustic practise. This can be for DIY or for your local Builder.

2.       Builders in particular think they know what to do as they have to comply to meet Document E of Building Regulations. Very often noise problem solutions require to be to a much higher specification than would be considered normal. It is therefore essential that they have this instruction. Not to follow this practise can reduce the effectiveness by up to and in excess of 80%.

3.       Many Builders take guidance from staff at Builders Merchants. All these are doing is recommending off the shelf solutions by manufacturers. They have no understanding of the science behind what they are saying. These systems can only achieve an average result by nature of their fixed design.

Detailed Report

1.       This is normally required when a Noise Abatement Order has been or is about to be issued.

2.       It indicates to the Enforcement Officer that something constructive is being done and often buys time.

3.       It also can introduce a phased report so that not all works have to be done at once as early priority measures may be more effective than thought and therefore reduces cost.

Inspection of Work

  1. This is to ensure if you are DIY or indeed that your Contractors have carried out the work correctly. This is to give you peace of mind.

Provision of Specialist Materials

1.       As our usage is high we are able to offer materials at rates cheaper than you will be charged, thereby saving you money.

2.       Equally as the property has been surveyed we are able to order the correct quantities to avoid waste and of course extra costs that you do not want.

Liaison with Local Authorities

1.       Often when a specialist is appointed Local Authorities will delay issuing a Noise Abatement Order. It is however essential that as soon as a problem is discovered you make this move. The later you leave it the more difficult it is.

2.       We will normally make contact on the phone and then set up a meeting at the same time as we conduct the survey.

3.       We may have to have other progress meetings and often with other departments.

4.       Sometimes they become unreasonable. The appointment of a specialist can reduce this attitude significantly.
